This was our first project of 2021 and it created a big impact to our home. I’ve revealed the arches on Instagram and I’m finally sharing more photos of the arched doorways.
We love how the arches brings a new shape to our home. The soft lines amongst so many hard straight lines. It adds a lot of architectural interest and a more custom feel. The arches are 8 feet tall, increasing the height of the standard doorway that was there. Allowing more light to flow in. The joining rooms now make them feel more connected.
When you walk from the bedrooms through the arch into the living room, it feels more welcoming. Everything feels more connected.
All in all the arches adds so much character to our home.
I’m very happy that we had the opportunity to do two arches in our open concept kitchen + living room. That way, the repetition feels more intentional and brings consistency throughout our home. We also have another arch project happening in our downstairs family room to add further architectural consistency + cohesiveness and interest to our home.
We absolutely love how the arched doorways turned out. These arches almost feel like they were always there – or at least that they were meant to be here. Our home has very good bones but in many aspects it has many builder grade elements. Since moving in, we’ve really enjoyed customizing and adding character to our home through various projects.
Now that this first project of 2021 is complete, we have another project in the works on the other side of one of these arches!
I certainly would not consider arches a trend, although they are becoming more popular. Arches have been around for ages, they are classic and timeless and I don’t think I’ve met an arch in architecture that I didn’t like.
We found the perfect console table for our entryway from Sunday’s Company. We went with the Form Console Table in white oak. It feels more grand and exactly what I had in mind for our entryway. I love the oversized vase and the endless styling options. I might get a couple stools or baskets to store underneath. We also got the Maru Stool which has already been moved multiple times throughout our home. I’m very impressed with Sunday’s collection of timeless styles + finishes that can really compliment any space.
Are you a fan of arches? Let me know!

Can you link the wall light sconces and mirror in the entryway please. You have a beautiful style and I’m inspired to try something similar with my dark hard wood floors. I wasn’t sure how to style them first. Now I’m actually excited after stumbling onto your blog and insta. Thank you!

THANK YOU – they are from Kichler lighting – I believe the style is from the Armstrong collection

Hi Jackie, Thank you! It was installed when the house was built by the previous owner – we did paint it white so it was much different to begin with 🙂
