This post has been a long time coming. I am so excited to give you a full tour of my favourite space in our home. Welcome to our master bedroom tour!
I didn’t blog it right away since we have been adding little touches here and there, PLUS I had been patiently waiting for our custom modern barn door for my bathroom to really finish the room. For the most part, our room has remained the same over the last two years, the main pieces are the same – the bedroom set, hanging chair, rug + lighting. As much as I love changing things up, I’m also proud of the fact that I continue to LOVE this space and there isn’t much I would change. Ok maybe I’d change a *few things* but that means another project, or purchase down the road;)
This really is my favourite room in our house. Everything came together just the way I wanted it to. I love the warmth of the wooden bedroom set. Everything looks and feels lived in, luxurious and attainable. I think I did a great job splurging on some items while also mixing in budget friendly pieces.
Often I had to remind myself that anything worthwhile takes time. It was a bit of a journey to put the finishing touches on this room. This took us a couple years to accumulate everything, since we didn’t go out and purchase everything just for the sake of having it complete. The process was fun, I really enjoy slowly accumulating items that hold meaning, or items that tell a story vs just buying something to fill a space. I didn’t want to rush the process and we will continue to add things to our bedroom that feel special or unique to us, but for the most part it feels complete.
The starting point was selecting the large furniture and rug. *Product Links are at the end of this post.* Originally I had my eye on this upholstered bed to pair with wood bedside tables, but after placing the order, *at that time* the store was not shipping to Canada. I’m very happy with our bedroom set which is from Structube however this collection isn’t available in the US so I will link a similar bedroom set below. I always wanted to have a hanging chair, so I was beyond happy that this one fits so perfectly in our bedroom. Back story on this chair, I bought when it was on mega sale long before we even knew we were moving. I bought it in *hopes* one day I could incorporate it into our future home.
After we selected the large pieces of furniture, we slowly worked on the rest. We already had bedding but I was keen to add the other personal touches and decor. These large pieces are all neutral so it allowed me to go in several different directions with accent colors and pieces.
The paint colour is Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. You can have it colour matched to any brand of paint or finish. Since the furniture is all neutral, I wanted to add a little colour. I had my eye on a large chunky knit blanket and was on the hunt for the perfect dusty rose colour. Eventually I came across this wonderful shop based in Amsterdam. She has so many colour options. This pink is ABSOLUTELY perfect. Well worth the wait to hold out for the perfect shade of pink I had in mind, and worth the splurge. I’ve seen many that look similar but nothing beats real merino wool. So lush and it really completes the room. I also stuck with small touches of black throughout the room to tie everything together – the hanging chair, light fixture and hardware for our door + curtain rod. Also plenty of cream and white touches.
We have three UVA stocks that complete this full look
This pink pot was purchased while we were on a trip to Disney World. We spend a few hours in Disney Springs and felt like I wanted a non Disney souvenir. Since this space is pretty much done I’ve been very selective about the items we bring into our home. It is fun to collect things here and there that add and compliment our home. Items with a memory from a vacation, or items that are sentimental value are always nice additions to create a space and make it unique and your own.
The light fixture is part of Hudson Valley Lighting Group from their Mitizi line. This fixture changes the look when you change the bulbs to different shapes.
Eventually I’d like to add a bench at the end of our bed. I’ve had my eye on this one. It is a bit of a splurge, but it is on my list so hopefully one day sooner than later I will pull the trigger:)
I learned a lot about decorating when putting this space together. The importance of balance, and how everything ties together and compliments the other decor. I’d love to create a whole separate blog post and go into more detail about some of the things I learned about decorating my master.

Hi! I love your bedroom furniture but the links you posted aren’t to the furniture in these photos. Do you have updated links? I would love to purchase the whole set because yours is beautiful!

Hi!! Are you located in Canada or US? I linked the exact bedroom set somewhere throughout the post. It is the Jensen Collection from Structube. Sadly it is not sold in the US so I linked similar ones in the post at the bottom 🙂

Hi Amy,
I hope this email finds you and your family well!
I am absolutely in love with your master bedroom. Thank you so much for posting about it! Your home is just gorgeous and you’ve done such an amazing job. I love your style!
We’re in the process of building a mid century mod house (in Canada). I’ve already ordered my Structube Jenson furniture – King bed, two nightstands and dresser. It was a toss up between that set and an MCM set on Wayfair which is similar to West Elm’s but the rosewood won out! I was wondering if you could please let me know the size of your Jenson bed and the size of your area rug? I love how much rug is showing – it’s just perfect. I’m trying to hunt down a rug similar to yours but that would ship in Canada; no small feat in these days of COVID. None of the similar rugs.usa options you posted for our American friends would ship in this lifetime or without hefty fees. I’m looking on rugs.ca but just can’t find a vintage Persian with as much beige, brown and pink to complement the Jenson. Any ideas?
Finally, I couldn’t get the link for your fantastic swing chair to work. Where did you find it?
Thanks!
Stay well,
Amanda

hi Amanda!! Thank you so much for following along and for your sweet words – that is very exciting about your new house! And YAY for being in Canada!! Finding sources here is often challenging. Rugs USA does ship to Canada and their rates are reasonable and if the rug is in stock it does arrive quickly from my experiences. Usually the shipping is calculated at checkout. I’m planning to do a rug blog post soon so I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for similar bedroom rugs. and finally the hanging chair is from Pier one but I don’t think they are around anymore… I linked a smiliar one from somewhere in the blog post I think 🙂

Hi – I’ve tried to link similar items. My bedroom set is from Structube as noted in the post. If you are in the US that collection isn’t available there so I’ve tried to find similar items 🙂

Hi Amy
I just wanted to say stunning bedroom you have designed and also I was wondering how you were able to get your West Elm items when there is no Canadian website available? The American website does not ship to Canada unfortunately!

Hi!!! The westelm links are to similar products since Structube doesn’t ship their Jensen collection to the US. Westelm does have a canadian site that ships within canada. My set is from Structube if you’re in Canada – the exact products are also linked within the blog post 🙂
