It is kind of crazy to think our master bedroom hasn’t changed much over the last two years. Until recently!
When it comes to my home decor style I love going for a look that I will continue to love years to come.
When we first moved into our home, we started shopping for furniture I had to be very patient because we didn’t rush out and buy everything right away. I reminded myself on countless occasions that home takes time. There were plenty of compromises. We waited to purchase some items and I’m actually glad that we took our time. It was a fun process and looking back, even if we could have afforded ALL of the finishing touches, it was really nice seeing our bedroom evolve into this cozy, serene space. Almost three years in this house and I still have more plans for in here;)
For our master bedroom refresh, for most part, the large furniture all remains the same, I’ve simply changed out some accessories and accents to our room.
I was excited to add some colour for more of a bold change so we swapped out new colourful bedding that I absolutely LOVE from Magic Linen. I love how it pops with our otherwise neutral space. If your bedroom’s walls and furniture are neutral, it is really easy to ass a pop of colour. I try to stick with one or two accent colours or stick within a colour palette so everything is cohesive. It’s important to repeat those colours throughout the room so it all ties together. For instance, you could add throw pillows with your accent colours, a blanket, vase or add a colour that compliments your rug or artwork.
The linen bedding is SO good! We went with this gorgeous Rust Pink Duvet set. The color is perfection and the linen is lovely to sleep on. I’ve been eyeing this set for a while. It was worth the wait! We don’t always sleep with a duvet on because we find it warm. But as we move into the cooler months I know I will bring out the duvet cover! See a photo below at the end of the post.
For a while I’ve been wanting to change the art above our bed to something more seasonally neutral. We went with these prints from Opposite Wall. These two prints are perfect for Autumn. We have the Icy Petal print and the Tall Stems print. I am still working on finding something even more seasonally neutral but I LOVE these prints in here!
I scored this incredible bench from Winners / Homesense. I ended up buying two because I love it THAT much. I’m using the other one as a sofa bench and I’m telling you – IT IS THE PERFECT BENCH! Finding a bench that would work with our bedroom set was a challenge because of the colour and grain of the wood. So I literally hit the jackpot with this bench! The texture with the wicker and the wood that matches our wood bedroom set perfectly.
For more of a masculine vibe on my hubby’s side of the bed, I did a super quick DIY and spray painted an old vase I had. I taped off the twine detail as I wanted it to stay the original colour and I simply used a Matte Black spray paint. Then added some dried branches – you can easily forage some of these while out for a hike – just be considerate!!
I’m totally digging the branches right now.
There are a few more small changes coming to our master bedroom so I think I’ll save the rest for another day!
Thanks so stopping by. Any questions please leave them below!
