Where does the time go?! It was just about one year ago when I started to think about getting Invisalign. I’m very pleased to report, less than one year later I’m ALL FINISHED MY INVISALIGN TREATMENT.

I started my Invisalign journey last November and I’m VERY pleased with the results and how quick the treatment was. In fairness, it would have taken less time but there was a little thing called COVID that shut down our city when I was on my second last tray. COVID aside, I’m all finished my treatment and I’m ALL SMILES.
I am very excited to share the end results with you today!
Over on Instagram I’ve shared more regular check ins on my progress and I’ve also blogged about WHY I decided to get Invisalign in my mid-thirties in this blog post : GOALS FOR 2020 – SELF CARE.
The actual part of wearing the Invisalign aligners (trays) was about 6 months, and I’m so excited to chat about how my teeth look now but first let me give a brief recap of my teeth BEFORE I started my Invisalign journey with Dr. Lawen of Lawen Dentistry. My teeth weren’t too crooked to begin with, but I had some crowding on my lower teeth and I had a few issues with my teeth and my decision was not completely based on aesthetics. After going to my free consultation with Dr. Lawen, he explained a lot about my teeth and it really helped me to understand other dental related issues I had experienced. I had significant premature wear on my teeth because of my bite not being properly aligned. The edges of my front teeth have become transparent + thin because of the incisal edge wear. My front teeth were more susceptible to fracture due to the thinness. I also had notching, which causes weakened teeth which is more susceptible to decay. My lower teeth were also crowded so it makes them difficult to clean properly.
In short, my main deciding factor to go for Invisalign was mostly due to my overall dental health. As well as self care! It was an incredible feeling to do something for ME. Something that I didn’t have to share with my kids. This was for ME and it’s been a big confidence boost!
Throughout my Invisalign treatment I had regular appointments with Dr. Lawen to ensure that everything was moving as planned. It was a great opportunity to ask questions and also reassuring to be continuously monitored. All of the team is great so I always looked forward to my appointments.
Before the end of my treatment my teeth were whitened, I was given a take home kit that was really easy to do at home. For years I wanted to have my teeth professionally whitened which only enhances the entire experience.
One of the finishing touches we did after the whitening was some bonding. In the past, I chipped my front teeth, probably because they were so thin and susceptible to fracture. Because of how thin my two top teeth were, my front teeth looked uneven. Dr. Lawen made the recommendation to bond my front teeth to help restore them. The actual process was easy, Dr. Lawen bonded my front teeth and they look so much better! This final touch really completes my new smile! These types of finishing touches are so important and it just goes to show that Dr. Lawen really takes care of his patients. I didn’t realize that this one service was such a important piece for me. This final touch made my teeth look even better!
Dr. Lawen also recommended a permanent retainer on my lower teeth since most of my movement was there and those teeth have a tendency to shift easily. Without hesitation I went with his recommendation. To be completely honest it took me a solid two weeks to adjust to the retainer on my lower teeth but now I don’t mind it and it is not noticeable whatsoever. At night I wear two plastic retainers, very similar to the Invisalign aligners, just a bit more firm.
Now that I have completed Invisalign my teeth are not only straight but my bite has been fixed which will help prevent further damage on my teeth.
I’m so happy with my new smile. My teeth look incredible.

WOULD I RECOMMEND INVISALIGN?
ABSOLUTELY! Especially as an adult.
The treatment is fast and you start to feel changes in your teeth very quickly.
If you’ve ever felt insecure about your teeth or smile this is a great option that can help.
I love that the aligners are clear and not very noticeable.
Invisalign is also a great option if you had braces when you were younger but your teeth have shifted over the years of and you just need a little tweaks.
Throughout my treatment I might have bent the rules slightly but I loved that the aligners were easy to pop them out once in a while for different reasons (social setting or going out to eat) **You need to be responsible and wear the trays for 22 hours a day!
My Invisalign treatment was about 10 months from start to finish (including a little slow down with COVID) and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
