I plan to do a full detailed blog post about our kitchen but since it will be longer I wanted to share a real quick post about our kitchen counters. Over on Instagram I’ve shared our kitchen a fair amount and the counters have been a show stopper.
Our Island and backsplash + shelves are Marble. We feel in love with Calcatta Vagli gold Marble. It’s honed and it is beyond perfect. It has a lot of interest and variation and it is a statement in itself.
We ended up getting two slabs – one for our large island. Then another for the backsplash + marble shelves in our kitchen. I’m very happy with this decision.
We opted for quartz for our cooktop counter – for two reasons. 1) to save cost but also 2) because we wanted to have an area that we could cook and not worry about stains etc. Please don’t read this the wrong way… we enjoy our kitchen, we cook, we live, and YES we make messes and we certainly don’t “baby” our home. It’s worked nicely for us to have the quartz. It actually compliments our marble nicely – without being too simple nor competing with the marble. We went with Volakano BQ885 from Vicostone. We also used this same quartz in other spaces in our home.
